Saturday, Oct 18, 8pm, Flint Center, Cupertino
It's a joy to celebrate 60 years of psenting great music to Peninsula audiences. We'll open our 60th season on a majestic note with Grieg’s mighty Piano Concerto, featuring Jeffrey Siegel, whose lyrical and compelling piano performances have made him a Peninsula Symphony audience favorite for many years. He is the quintessential performer for Grieg’s powerful and poetic concerto, beloved for its memorable
melodies and gripping passion.
This will be an entire evening of great Romantic masterpieces, with, in addition to the Grieg Concerto, Dvorak’s 8th Symphony (in G), a triumphal work of great expssive force and excitement, and Dvorak's own distinctive brand of warm-hearted personality. Sibelius’s enchanting tone poem, Spring Song begins this program of Romantic masters – join us for Grieg, Dvorak and Sibelius to open the 60th Season of the Peninsula Symphony.
We look forward to performing for you all throughout this special year - be with us for the fiery music of Spain (with the great guitarist Angel Romero) in January, three amazing Bay Area musical stars in March, and the overwhelming and unforgettable Carmina Burana in May.
The Peninsula Symphony is a 90 member community orchestra in its 59th season, making it one of the oldest, most established symphony orchestras in the Bay Area. Its members are professionally trained musicians, substantially all of whom volunteer their time to the Orchestra. Each year the Orchestra performs 12 concerts in venues from San Mateo to Cupertino. These concerts consist of the annual subscription series, the jazz series, Holiday concerts and a Family Concert. For tickets or more information call (650) 941-5291.
