Music by John Williams, featuring cellist Christopher Costanza

Season 78 opens with a celebration of the music of John Williams, Hollywood’s greatest orchestral storyteller and a composer whose music has defined generations of moviegoers. From the wonder and imagination of E.T. and Jurassic Park to the poignant Angela’s Ashes and the deeply moving Elegy for Cello and Orchestra featuring Christopher Costanza, this program showcases Williams at his most memorable and expressive. The concert also pays tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood with Erich Wolfgang Korngold’Kings Row Suite and Hooray for Hollywood, culminating in the epic adventure and unforgettable themes of the Star Wars Suite.

Featuring music from Studio Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service and performance by 2025 International Klein Competition Winner Julia Schilz.

A young witch takes flight, a gifted young violinist claims her moment, a 19th-century voice is transformed into something thrillingly modern, and a bird of fire is reborn from the flames — January's program is transformation in four acts. Hisaishi's enchanting Kiki's Delivery Service, Bruch's soaring Violin Concerto with Klein Competition winner Julia Schilz, Hindemith's exhilarating Symphonic Metamorphosis, and Stravinsky's blazing Firebird Suite.

Featuring cellist Nathan Chan

From California's misty redwoods to the cosmos itself, March's program is a sweeping journey through nature and beyond. John Wineglass's evocative Bonny Doon: From the Misty Redwoods to the Mighty Pacific Ocean sets the scene, Juilliard alum and Assistant Principal Cello of the Seattle Symphony Nathan Chan brings Elgar's deeply personal Cello Concerto, and Holst's magnificent The Planets crowns the evening.

Don’t miss Season 78 finale and Maestro Mitchell Sardou Klein’s final concert as Peninsula Symphony’s Music Director.

Season 78 closes with a historic farewell as Music Director Mitchell Sardou Klein takes his final bow after 42 extraordinary years leading the Peninsula Symphony. Joining him is beloved PSO favorite and Van Cliburn winner Jon Nakamatsu for MacDowell's sweeping Piano Concerto No. 2. The program opens with Bernstein's sparkling Candide Overture and culminates in Rachmaninoff's deeply emotional Symphony No. 2 — a finale worthy of a maestro.
